Simon König

Simon König is a Partner at Climate Focus and the Executive Director at Climate Focus North America. Since 2010, he has advised clients on the development of business, investment, and partnership models to accelerate deployment of climate finance in natural climate solutions (NCS) across the Americas, Africa, and Asia. His experience ranges from greenhouse gas accounting for Agricultural Land Management (ALM), Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR), Improved Forest Management (IFM), and Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD) to operational, financial, and commercial aspects of carbon projects, due diligence, and transaction support.

As the lead of our NCS investment practice and carbon analytics team, Simon oversees advisory projects for investors, buyers, and project developers to facilitate carbon market transactions. He also leads advisory projects for public clients and civil society organizations with a focus on understanding mitigation potentials, prioritizing NCS interventions, developing implementation models, and creating an enabling environment for private investment.

Simon holds a degree from the University of Edinburgh (MSc in ecological economics).
