Laura Donfack Somenguem is a consultant at Climate Focus’s Berlin office where she primarily focuses on NBS carbon project assessment, carbon accounting methods evaluation, data management and modeling in carbon projects and markets. She is particularly interested in sustainable climate solutions across various AFOLU projects and initiatives.

Prior to joining Climate Focus, Laura was working as a Research Scientist at the Georg-August University of Göttingen where she was simultaneously conducting her PhD research focusing on drought impacts on tree physiological functions in temperate forests. She has also gained consistent experience in NBS projects and forest monitoring by engaging as an intern with organizations such as: Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and Cameroon Wildlife Conservation Society (CWCS) all in Cameroon.

Laura earned a BA and MA in Agronomy and Forestry from the University of Dschang (Cameroon), and a MSc. In Tropical and international Forestry from the Georg-August University of Göttingen (Germany).

Laura speaks French and English, and has moderate proficiency in German. In her free time, she enjoys cycling outdoors, playing tennis and badminton, hiking, and cooking.
