Georg Hahn is a consultant based at Climate Focus’s Berlin office where his work focuses on food systems sustainability, sustainable land use, agriculture, and forest protection. He is particularly interested in the implications of the EU Deforestation Regulation for sustainable development in producer countries and global North-South relations, and how the transition to a more sustainable food system and diet can be achieved in a just and inclusive manner.

He contributes to multiple projects including the annual Forest Declaration Assessment.

Prior to joining us as an Analyst, Georg was an Associate Researcher at Climate Focus. His previous experience also includes working at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. At the ministry, Georg worked on development cooperation and the communication of Sustainable Development Goals to citizens.

Georg holds an M.A. in International Relations from Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and University of Potsdam, Germany, in addition to holding a B.A. in Political Science and French from University of Freiburg, Germany. His academic journey also took him to Science Po Lille, France, and to the School of International Service at American University, Washington, DC.

Georg enjoys learning languages and is fluent in English and French, in addition to being a native speaker of German and an avid student of Spanish. He has a passion for running, is a committed vegan and loves Mexican food. Georg also enjoys traveling, podcasts, and is a talented singer.
