Daniel (Alberto) Cordova Pineda is a legal consultant at Climate Focus and a qualified Peruvian lawyer based in the Berlin office. He specializes in the legal aspects of climate change initiatives, with a focus on emission reduction projects, carbon markets and transactions, and climate policy and regulatory design.

Before joining Climate Focus, Daniel spent over ten years working in Peru’s environmental sector. He held roles within government agencies under the Ministry of Environment, contributing to the development of environmental impact assessment systems and enforcement policies for large-scale investment projects. He also advised private companies on environmental compliance. In Germany, he gained experience in sustainable development and land use at Unique Land Use GmbH, and in forest and environmental policy at the University of Freiburg.

Daniel holds a Bachelor of Laws from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, with a specialization in Environmental and Natural Resources Law, and an MSc in Environmental Governance from the University of Freiburg. His Master’s research examined the stakeholder coalitions that influenced environmental and social provisions in the EU-MERCOSUR Association Agreement.

Outside of work, Daniel enjoys reading fiction, playing sports, and is currently learning to play the harmonica.
