Anna Kovács

Anna Kovács is a Senior Consultant at Climate Focus. Her work focuses on carbon markets and climate policies, primarily in the context of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. She supports governments, international organizations and private sector clients with research and advisory services, engages in projects focused on capacity building for Article 6-based climate action, closely follows UNFCCC developments, and supports clients in their engagement with international climate change negotiations.

Before joining Climate Focus, Anna spent four years at Erasmus University Rotterdam, analyzing the evolution of climate change policies, UNFCCC processes, and motivating large-scale collective action for climate change. She is finalizing her PhD in Law & Economics of climate change. Anna also gained experience as a trainee at The Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL), supporting its business accelerator for mSMEs working on access to justice in East and Southern Africa. She holds an Advanced Master’s degree (MSc.) in International Relations and Diplomacy from Leiden University and the Clingendael Institute, and a Bachelor’s degree (LL.B.) in International and European Law from the University of Groningen.

In her off-hours, Anna can either be found dancing a variety of dance styles to swing music or in her favorite armchair with a large mug of tea and a good book.
