Alan Ichilevici de Oliveira is an analyst at Climate Focus working on climate and land use policies. He has experience in climate action transparency, greenhouse gas mitigation, policy implementation, and capacity building.

Prior to joining Climate Focus, Alan held a role at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) where he was part of an initiative supporting developing countries to fulfill their transparency commitments under the Paris Agreement. This included tracking of NDC implementation, furthering policy development, and related monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) responsibilities. Before that, he worked at GIZ, with Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) in various sectors and regions. He also worked for a state government in Brazil, where he contributed to the implementation of sanitation policies in one of the poorest regions in the country.

Alan holds a Master of Public Policy from the Hertie School in Berlin and a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the University of Campinas in Brazil. For his Master’s thesis, Alan explored the opportunities, challenges, and limitations of subnational climate action by state governments in Brazil. He is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish and has intermediate French and German skills.

In his free time, Alan enjoys practicing yoga, biking, and climbing.
