Carbon Projects Supporting REDD+ Identifying and Optimizing Synergies
KfW commissioned Climate Focus to analyze the synergies between reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+) and carbon publications. REDD+ accounts for emissions reductions from a specific location from within a forest while carbon publications aim to address the drivers of deforestation and forest degradation. Examples of the latter are energy efficiency or fuel switch publications but the study lists more publication types that achieve REDD+ outcomes.
The study lists the carbon publications that are most effective in achieving REDD+ outcomes. The publication types have been ranked according to their financial feasibility, robustness of reporting on REDD+ outcomes, technical feasibility and mitigation potential.
