Addressing Agricultural Drivers of Deforestation: Opportunities for Catalytic Donor Interventions
This paper reviewed strategies on how to counter agricultural drivers of deforestation and recommendations on how international donors can support such strategies. The paper starts with a review of the drivers of deforestation, with particular emphasis on agricultural drivers. This is followed by an analytical review of policies and measures that governments can take to address these drivers. Based on this general review of policy options, the authors developed models for public-private partnerships and other interventions that could be supported by international REDD+ funds. The report concludes with a summary of recommendations for public support.
