Climate Focus with its partner EcoSan is carrying out a Belgian Development Agency (BTC) assignment in Uganda on wastewater standardized baseline development for municipal and industrial sectors. The assignment comprises a feasibility study, data collection and development of two standardized baseline documents, one for the municipal wastewater treatment and one for selected industrial sectors.
For the industrial sector, the feasibility study concluded that it would be viable to develop a standardized baseline for the sugar industry in Uganda, an important consumer of both drinking and industrial waters used in the refining process. The standardized baseline documents have been prepared and submitted to BTC and we are now waiting for a Department of Environment (DOE) assessment report before submitting the proposal to UNFCCC for final approval.
