Recently speculation has arisen in some quarters that the European Commission may be planning to restrict carbon credits generated by large hydropower projects. The Commission has been clear that no such restrictions are currently planned, though they could be considered in the future depending on the outcome of ongoing initiatives to tackle additionality, sustainability and EU ETS demand.
