This study, commissioned by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), summarizes the experiences of the four main multilateral adaptation funds providing financial resources to support resilience and adaptation measures in vulnerable developing countries. Those funds – the Adaptation Fund (AF), Least Developed Country Fund (LDCF), Special Climate Change Fund (SCCF) and the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR)– have used a wide range of programming modalities, resources allocation systems, access arrangements and decision-making processes to support developing countries. The study highlights how those complementary approaches have helped in different ways to strengthen country resilience, increase national capacity and improve country effectiveness in responding to present and future climate-related impacts.
