Climate Focus announces free Mogli MRV+ smartphone application to monitor carbon programs data

Reliably collecting and sharing measurements to ensure emission reductions truly took place and buyers are getting what they pay for – certified emission reductions to offset their own emissions – is critical and often a challenge, especially at the household level, as homes are often situated in remote rural areas scattered over a wide geographical reach.

With the smartphone application Mogli MRV+, emission reduction data can be collected, backed up and instantly shared worldwide. It can also be used to record and help verify the co-benefits of projects, such as clean air and reduced deforestation.

“We developed this application because we saw the difficulties many of our clients have in collecting monitoring data for their carbon programmes, when actually there is a huge potential for simplifying data collection using readily available technologies,” said Sandra Greiner of Climate, a co-developer with Tact L3C.

More information about using Mogli MRV+ to monitor project performance in rural areas can be found on the UNFCCC website. This free app is available for download from the Tact Global website.
