Koray has been working in international development finance for almost ten years. Before joining the team, he worked at the EBRD in Istanbul and London. He was responsible for the management of several donor-funded frameworks and projects targeting financial institutions and their clients for the financing of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and resource efficiency investments, as well as women in businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises.
His responsibility included conducting due diligence, financial and counterparty credit risk analysis, preparation and implementation of investment proposals incorporating various lending instruments, management of stakeholders, and negotiation of various legal structures. During his tenure, he led projects under the EBRD energy financing facilities in Turkey, which aimed to support the partner private banks, businesses and households to realize their investment efforts in energy efficiency, renewable energy and resource efficiency via the provision of credit lines and local and international expert assistance for capacity building. Prior to the EBRD, Koray worked at Garanti Bank, Turkey as part of the Structured Finance team, where he managed development finance transactions with various international or bilateral institutions such as the EIB, EBRD, OPIC, KfW, AfD and PROPARCO.
In his free time, Koray likes to take photos of nature and people, cook for family and friends and travel to new corners of the world. He holds degrees from Bilkent University (MA in economics) and Middle East Technical University (BA in economics) in Turkey.
