Platform for Information and Dialogue in the Colombian Amazon (PID) update

On 27 February 2018, the Platform for Information and Dialogue of the Colombian Amazon, a project that aims to bridge the communication gaps among stakeholders working to reduce deforestation in the Amazon region, held its 15th multi-stakeholder meeting in Florencia, Caquetá. The topic of this meeting was the inclusion of gender approach in environmental conservation policies in the Amazon Region. Indigenous, afro-descendant and local community leaders, as well as LGBT activists, gathered to discuss the importance of including a gender approach in deforestation policies to recognize the different roles that men and women have in environmental conservation across different cultures. They also discussed concrete steps to make this happen. The PID, as an information hub for projects and stakeholders acting in the Amazon region, will create a document mapping the projects aimed at women and women-led. The live stream of the event can be found on the PID's facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pidamazonia/
